Marco De Leon
Operations Minister
The Rio Grande Valley is the place I’ve called Home for the majority of my life. I grew up with a large family and had never been part of a church until I came through the doors of Logos Community. Jesus called me to Himself in a coffee shop with decent brew and faulty internet at the age of 22. Now my heart belongs to Jesus, my passion is for my people of the Rio Grande Valley, and my service is with Logos Community.
In my headphones: Radiohead-Reckoner, Explosions in the Sky- Magic Hours, The Chariot-And Shot Each Other, Pantera-Southern Trendkill
My Hobbies: I love hangouts: a good campfire with friends, long BBQ’s, trips to the beach. Reading books upon books. Books on my desk: Re:Jesus by Alan Hirsch, In my Place Condemned He Stood by J.I. Packer, and The Official Ninja Handbook. Along with reading comes writing – anything from blogs, responses, and articles.
Something interesting about me: I cry in movies…a lot; anything that that depicts the relationship between brothers. I dead-lifted my friend Serge’s car the first day he got it.

Serge De Leon
Worship Minister
Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico and raised in Pharr, Texas, I am all Valley. I was born into a “Christian” home and raised in a traditional Mexican environment, meaning I grew up with pan dulce, ranchitos and salsa. At the age of 7, while wearing boots, a muscle shirt and some jeans, “I” decided that “I” needed Jesus. I faked it well for several years. Needless to say I got involved with all sorts of sin. Jesus called me to himself at the age of 21-22. I have been a part of Logos Community since its origins and have fought alongside ever since. I am married to the best lady ever, Christie De Leon. She sings the same songs I do and helps me survive! I love her and am thankful for her! The Lord blessed me with the gifts of music and worship. My heart beats for the worship of Jesus. Our mission is the Valley — my avenue…creativity. I love Jesus and I serve with Logos Community.
In my headphones: Josh Garrels, Mumford & Sons, Shane and Shane, Sojourn, Dave Matthews Band, Damien Rice, Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers, The Wailin’ Jennys, RadioHead, Trip Lee, Lecrae, Explosions in The Sky…So much more!!!
My Hobbies: Guitar, writing, reading, creating, instruments, golf and biking.
Something interesting about me: Most people think I can’t play sports….I can!

Rubén Degollado
Children’s Minister
I was born in Kokomo, Indiana, but am from McAllen where the majority of my family has lived for generations. I graduated with a BA in English from UTPA and then taught a year in Mission, and it was while I was an undergrad that I became a submitted follower of Jesus. I married my wonderful wife Julie in 1997, and after a brief stint in Florida, we moved to Oregon. I worked as a teacher, then principal and got a Masters in Educational Administration from Lewis and Clark College. We were called back to the Rio Grande Valley after we had our two boys, Elijah and Miqueas so that they could be around family who could love them well. While driving on a Sunday, I discovered Logos Community when I saw the sandwich board sign, back when we used to gather at the “Bat Cave.” It was God’s hand at work, as we soon became a part of a community that lives to make much of Jesus and helps each other to be more like Him. Logos Kids has been an integral part of my boys’ lives and I have watched them grow and begin to understand Jesus, marveling at hearing my 6 year old recite scripture like a little theologian. I am so honored and excited to be serving the children and families of Logos with such an incredible team.
In my headphones: Payable on Death, Project 86, Lila Downs, Natalie Merchant, Radiohead, The Smiths, Sparklehorse, Elliot Smith, Jeremy Camp, Blindside, Chavela Vargas, Sick Sea, Florence and the Machine, Ben Harper, Young the Giant.
My Hobbies: Trail Bike Riding (used to be “Mountain Biking,” but strangely there are no mountains to be found), collecting comic books, reading, writing and publishing fiction, and collecting antique mechanical typewriters.
Something interesting about me: At the peak of my mountain bike powers, I broke my arm on a step-up jump. While I was ten feet up in the air, shooting far beyond the landing, I realized it was time to maybe slow down a little bit with the shenanigans, as I had never been and never would go pro.

Manny Garza
Youth Minister
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico and lived there until we moved to Dallas when I was in second grade. In fifth grade my family moved to the Valley because my dad got a management job here. After high school, I got involved in real estate and became very passionate about business. It wrecked my life because of the importance I gave money. I started attending Logos Community and was confronted with the Gospel in a way I had never encountered before. Jesus called me to Himself and gave me a PASSION for Him and the Gospel that now propels me to share the good news with people of all ages.
In my headphones: DJ Tiesto, Deadmau5, 30 seconds to Mars, Yiruma, Shane and Shane, Leeland.
My Hobbies: I enjoy hanging out with the boys. When we go out to eat, they eat steak and I eat chicken fried steak (just saying). I love to workout and to hit the punching bag every once in a while. I really like to listen to sermons while I’m eating monster salads at Jason’s Deli. (Don’t judge my monster healthy salads. They really are healthy! LOL!)
Something interesting about me: I’m a black-belt and also a Tough Mudder, but I was really unprepared for both events. By God’s grace I did not die during the black belt test or the Tough Mudder competition.

Michael Hartley
Tech & Production Director
Originally from Michigan, I have experience both in and out of the church work environment; while in Michigan I worked on Sunday productions for a 30,000 member church and oversaw the video production team along with working with designing stage layouts. Since then, I have consulted on numerous production installations throughout the Valley and have focused on cinematography along with web and graphic design. I am currently working on a masters degree for graphic design and own my own web and production company. On the times I haven’t been on staff at a church, I’ve been hired by automotive companies like Mazda and VW to travel the country working on new projects for upcoming vehicles they plan to launch.
I love me some sports! I can pretty much watch any sport and enjoy it, especially in person. When it comes to music, I’m wide open. I have a huge variety of stuff on my iPhone and keep adding new genres. At the end of the day though, I couldn’t do what I do without God putting my mentor (Andrew) in my life back in 2004 and without my volunteers. They are the reason Sunday even happen.

Josh Stockel
Executive Pastor
I’m from Houston TX, but moved to the Rio Grande Valley to become a teacher in 2004 and after 2 years I began to work for the City of McAllen. I met my wife Ashley in college while attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I became a submitted follower of Jesus after our 3rd year of marriage. We began to be discipled by Pastor Tom and his wife, Selina, and within months we were hosting a large bible study at our house, which shortly after became a church plant which we now call Logos Community. I have been the Executive Pastor for Logos Community since April 11, 2010. Ashley and I have 2 amazing children, Addison and Barrett “Bear”. We had plans to leave the valley early in our marriage but we know without a doubt we have been called to the Rio Grande Valley and the Lord has given us a heart for the people here.
In my headphones: TONS of Techno, lots of random music, and anything the Jr. high kids are listening to.
My Hobbies: I enjoy movies, music, UFC and I recently have developed a love for reading but my greatest hobby is anything 4×4 and off-road!
Something interesting about me: In college I dabbled in acting and I have been in a couple movies, commercials, and musical productions. After graduation I almost chose the acting career path. THANK YOU LORD I DID NOT!!

Tom Weaver
Lead Pastor
I’m from North Carolina originally, but moved to the great state of Texas for work. I met my wife Selina in Houston going to 2nd Baptist, and knew that she was the one for me. After we married, we moved to the Valley to pursue my business. I became a submitted follower of Jesus after our first year of marriage. We sold our business and began college work, which was followed by youth work in a local church. I knew without a shadow of a doubt I wanted to plant a gospel centered, missional focused church. Logos Community was planted from this dream. Selina and I have 3 wonderful girls: Carolina, Emma Lee, and Mary Grace. We are proud to call the Rio Grande Valley home; we have found real community in Logos Community, and absolutely love the people. There is nowhere else that we would rather be!
In my headphones: Lecrae (Rehab), Tedashii, Sho Baraka, as well as a bunch of music from Noise Trade.
My Hobbies: I enjoy working out, reading and watching Indie films.
Something interesting about me: I had a sweet mullet in the 80′s and wore a diamond stud in my left ear. Don’t tell anyone.
