God has moved in the past, God moves now, and God will continue to move in the future and forever! We can see all throughout scripture how God has moved in and through His people to bring glory to His name. We see it in the exodus of the Israelites from the persecution of Pharaoh when He brought about plagues on the Egyptians and led the Israelites into the promised land or again when the Spirit of God dropped on the people at Pentecost. Peter preached a sermon on repentance and 3000 people were saved in THAT MOMENT!
God has done amazing things and is continuing to do amazing things.
We have each seen God do small amazing things in and through individuals and big things throughout the entire church! Right now Logos Community is experiencing another movement of God. There is so much going on and so many blessings we can hardly keep up. I have been going crazy waiting to write this to our Logos Community family and to share with you what God is doing! Here is a peek at what’s happening so that we may give Him all the praise and then get to work.
The Gospel Is Being Declared
We have been preaching about wisdom this summer in our series on Proverbs. This is the wisdom that comes from God and is found as we follow Jesus. We are seeing salvation and transformation in people all throughout the church. People are connecting, giving, serving, loving, and acting as believers are instructed to act. Its been amazing as people have stopped following selfish desires and have begun to listen to the wisdom that comes from following Jesus. They have seen victory! Its been great! We are praying for more people to trust in Jesus. Join us in lifting them up!
This is what is MOST important to us. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not just something unbelievers need to hear and once saved, we are good to go. All of us, Christian and non-Christian alike, need to hear the good news that Jesus has intervened for us, that He died for our sins so that we may be forgiven and able to stand before God the Father as RIGHTEOUS and HOLY. Because of Jesus we are now considered His children, His people, God’s friends, co-heirs with Christ, and the list goes on and on. THIS IS GREAT NEWS and this is what we are all about! Let us continue to stand upon the grace of God and proclaim His gospel message so that the world may know Him!
The Church Is Growing
It is normal for most churches to experience a drop in attendance during the summer months. We were looking forward to the break in order to prepare for this fall, but a break was not in God’s plan. We have experienced record attendance numbers this summer in both our 9 am and 11 am Sunday services as well as in our Logos Kids ministry.
We have over 300 people in attendance and have had to find more volunteers. We are still searching! There are new Community Groups starting throughout the Valley, specifically in Mission and Harlingen. Check our website for the one closest to where you live.
We have also seen God move in our leadership and have added 3 amazing new leaders to our already AMAZING leadership team. They are gifted and have been a blessing!
Ruben Degollado- Children’s Minister: Ruben has replaced Anthony Kroeker and will now oversee babies through college. His primary focus will be our Logos Kids ministry this year. He is working part time for us and has a Masters in Education Administration with years of experience in the public education world as a teacher and administrator. We have been blessed with his leadership and you will be hearing from him soon. If you want to speak with him or volunteer in this ministry Ruben can be reached at ruben@logoscommunity.com.
Chuck Newell- Community Groups Coordinator: Chuck and his wife Dawn are former missionaries. Chuck spent time as an elder in his former church and has numerous years of experience as a health administrator. He is skilled at leadership development, ministry development, doctrinal content for ministry training and now oversees all of our Community Groups. He is currently attending seminary and is working on his masters. We are blessed with his years of experience and the service and love that he and his wife bring to our church. If you would like to connect with Chuck he can be reached at chuck@logoscommunity.com.
Mike Hartley- Tech and Production Director: Mike has years of experience both in and out of the church environment with everything from Sunday production for a 30,000 member church to web design. He is currently working on his masters for graphic design and owns his own web and production company. We immediately saw the difference his expertise brings and have been blessed to have him join our leadership team. If you would like to be a part of our Tech and Production team you can reach him at hartley@logoscommunity.com
We recently launched our FORWARD CAMPAIGN and are currently still raising money to reach our $80,000 goal. Our Operations Minister, Marco De Leon, will be hired full time next month because of this fundraising initiative. We are continuing to be blessed by the financial gifts from all of you here at Logos Community! If you want to be a part of this you can still join us. For more info check out logoscommunity.com/forward.
We Are Going Multi-Site
Multi-campus churches are uncommon in the valley but aren’t uncommon around the nation. As God grows a church some churches such as ours, feel that people are best served by planting multiple churches in multiple cities to better serve that city and Gods people there to better be equipped to be on mission. We do not desire to have one really large location where people have to drive over an hour (which some are already doing to attend Logos Community) but to have smaller church locations around the valley with pastors, deacons, and members from that city being on mission in that city. We will be writing more information in the next month or so what this will looks like so be checking our website and The City for info.
The Lord gave us a vision for this church model when we planted 4 years ago to be able to plant churches all over the valley and into Mexico. Recently God blessed us with a couple of families in Harlingen, a building, and multiple people from here in McAllen that want to see the gospel proclaimed in Harlingen and see people saved. So we will be planting our second campus there in September. If you want to be a part of this, email us or begin to follow Logos Community Harlingen on Facebook and Twitter for more info as we make plans.
We Need Your Help
As Logos Community continues to grow we need your help. God has blessed this church and has brought us together for one mission and that is to share the gospel with lost people throughout the valley and across the world. We accomplish this different ways and here are a few ways we need your immediate help:
Prayerfully
James tells us in James 5:16 to pray for each other. We are the body of Christ which is the family of God. We are called to love and enjoy God and we are also called to love and enjoy each other. So pray for each other. Also pray for your pastors and leadership. We are making large decisions and as pastors its our responsibility and our pleasure to lead you as Christ would have us. So pray for us and our families. Pray that more pastors would join us to help lead this church. Pray for discernment and that we would stay close to Gods word and the Spirits leading. Lastly pray for those who Lord willing, will be coming this fall whom we have never met before. We want them to know Jesus in a radical way that they may experience the same grace, joy, and abundant life He has given us!
Physically
Since we have grown tremendously over the last couple years, so has our need for more structure, staffing, leadership, serving teams, and serving opportunities. We have needs ranging from caring for babies to graphic design and more! We have needs that are as simple as an hour or two on Sundays to needs that are Monday-Friday. We as the body of Christ have been given different gifts to serve the church and are to sacrificially use them to serve (Romans 12:3-8). Some of you now call Logos Community your home and consider yourself to be a part of this church family. We need those of you to serve like family members and join the many who have already begun to do so. If you want to know how to serve, please visit our website at logoscommunity.com/serve or email Marco De Leon at marco@logoscommunity.com.
Financially
As the church grows so does the financial need. We have numerous staff we need to hire and a few who are trying to raise support because they need to come on full time quicker than we can pay them. We are also still looking for a McAllen facility we can be in 24 hours a day in order to hold staff, meetings, classes, community groups, and our youth. We have numerous financial needs for many things ranging from missions to rent. We have been blessed and continue to be blessed by many at Logos Community who give sacrificially and those people have the joy of experiencing worship through giving financially. We give because we serve a giving God who gave EVERYTHING, even death on the cross. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 9:6-12 that God equips us to “be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.” This is pleasurable for us and for God so in that we worship the Creator by releasing the claws that our stuff has in our hearts. You can give to Logos Community through cash, checks, or online at logoscommunity.com/give.
We are blessed. We are loved. We have been made new and called onto mission with our Lord and Savior. Join us and get excited Logos Community. This Fall is going to be busy but exciting!
